The Perioimplantology Featured Mirrorless Dental Camera

Camera Body:

The camera body can be any micro four-thirds format camera.  If you search Amazon, you will see many from either Olympus or Panasonic.  We prefer the ones with a newer sensor and stabilization technology from Olympus.

The flagship camera body is the Olympus OMD EM-5.  This camera has the newest sensor, includes an electronic viewfinder and 5-axis stabilization:

A cheaper alternative to the OMD is the Olympus EPL-5.  The EPL-5 is actually smaller than the OMD but it still packs the upgraded sensor.  The drawbacks to the smaller size are less control dials and no electronic viewfinder.  Most don't mind the loss of the viewfinder as the back screen is large and bright.

Lens:

Lens selection is easy, as the best macro lens is the Olympus 60mm macro.  The lens is tiny, light weight, and takes amazingly sharp photos.  It has focus limiting switches so that the autofocus is faster than the camera having to hunt through all focal points.  Great lens for non-macro as well.

Ring Flash

The best and smallest ring flash I have found is the Lester Dine ring flash.  Lester Dine was making dental photography rigs since long before digital cameras were around and they still make an amazing ring flash.  You can see their products at: www.Dinecorp.com.  Make sure to order your flash with the included 46-52mm adapter ring.  Happy shooting!
